The image of the warrior competing in the games, throwing a spear, is symbol of the original Tailteann Games. The markings softly strewn across the background represents barley which has since become the symbol of Irish resistance against English oppression, perfectly illustrating the very principle behind the 1924 revival of the Tailteann Games.
